Magium is a text adventure game inspired by D&D and similar to old Choose Your Own Adventure books (CYOA), in which you play as Barry, a regular guy who enters a deadly mage tournament against the world’s most powerful mages in the hopes of winning the prize and realizing his lifelong dream of becoming a mage.
Your decisions, as in any interactive novel, have an impact on the plot, and choosing the wrong choices can even lead to death. In addition to the standard choices found in Choose Your Own Adventure games, Magium has stats that you can improve with points earned throughout the game.
The story of Magium begins right after you and the other competitors were transported to the continent where the competition was being held, and it is set in a medieval fantasy setting with a dash of futuristic-looking magical devices.
Which are relics of an ancient, technologically advanced civilization that crumbled hundreds of years before the beginning of the tournament.
The environment in which the story is set is based on Dungeons and Dragons, so if you’ve ever played D&D, you’ll notice some parallels, especially in terms of the magic system.

As the game progresses, you’ll meet new characters, make friends and enemies, and learn more about the continent and its inhabitants.
You’ll discover that six hundred years ago, a guy known as “The Creator” constructed multiple utopias in this location, where animals and humans coexisted peacefully and food was created by magic.
What you will see, though, is the demise of these utopias, some of which are on the verge of collapse. Your decisions will have an impact on what occurs in these cities, and you can even save them if you want to.
The game will be separated into six or seven books, each of which will have over 100,000 words.
The first book is currently available in full for free on the internet. It’s roughly 178k words lengthy, which corresponds to about 700 pages in a book.
This figure also accounts for the story’s multiple pathways. On average, a playthrough should be around 90k words long, or 350 book pages.
The second book is now accessible in its entirety, however, the third and fourth books are still in the works and will be released chapter by chapter as I finish them.
